Nata de Coco is a relatively modern day coconut product that originated in the Philippines.
Coconut milk and coconut water are the primary ingredients.
It is a chewy, translucent, jelly-like food product produced by the bacterial fermentation of coconut milk.
Nata de coco is sweetened as a candy, or dessert and can accompany your favourite drink, ice cream, fruit mixes or yogurt.
The popularity of Nata de Coco spread across the ocean from its country of origin, and immediately became the dessert of choice.
Nata de Coco may be added to your favourite fruit salad.
Nata de Coco is one of the ingredients in Mr. Goudas Exotic Fruit Cocktail.
Usually, fruit cocktails contain peaches and pears as the main ingredients.
However, I thought it would be a great idea to change the combination and incorporate something different.
Consequently, I incorporated pieces of papaya, guava, pineapple and nata de coco.
This particular Exotic Fruit Cocktail takes you to another world, a tropical world.
It was not an easy task since not all the fruits grow in the same area, nor do they ripen at the same time.
Nevertheless, the Nata de Coco which is incorporated into this fruit cocktail will give you a taste that you have never experienced before.
You may find yourself eating piece after piece wondering what is this exquisite flavor? What is this thing?
In the last few years, I tried very hard to minimize the sugar content within my products since I did not want to include any artificial sweeteners which are popping up in other brands.
Therefore, in 2011, I changed the formula of the original recipe that was in heavy syrup to a light syrup format, and through the selection of the fruits I have been able to maintain the sweetness.
I know through my experiences that there are individuals who are opposed to, or have allergic reactions to Coconut products in any form.
Obviously, I cannot please those individuals.
It is never too late to state that I wrote a book about that country, titled: Costa Rica, The World's Best Kept Secret. Click on the title which will introduce you to another world.
When I finally saw the Coconut Tree for the first time and I remembered all the years prior since the 1970,s when I created the first Coconut Milk in can and other related products, I was inspired to write a book about the coconut tree in the book titled, The Coconut Tree.
This book provides a lot of information about the subject and may be useful to you.
